By means of solution heat treatment, thickness of 0.2-6.0 mm can be subjected to continous heat treatment in the CHT-line II. This type of heat treatment is far superior to batch systems with reagrd to uniformity, reproducibility and temperature control possibilities (e.g. flash annealing). This technology is supplemented by th CHT-line III, which provides a hig degree of flatness with minimum upstream cold forming. Through the latest quenching technology, optimised strip control and an integrated stretcher, with AMAG TopForm, a "2024 T4 improved formability" alloy has been developed, which offers markedly superior forming charcteristics to those of the established 2024 alloy should be retained.
